ONE MORE MILE RIDERS – TURKEY
Riding is a Way of Thinking @ www.ommriders.org
“It is just terrific to have a willing steed parked in the garage, ready to go on adventures on a moment notice. You can ride your motorcycle to work, on a week-long trip, or just… anywhere.
No matter how you plan to use your bike on a given day, however, a simple and repeatable system will make life better for both of you” (from Motorcycle 101 by Dave Preston)
Welcome to the Roadcraft System, welcome to OMM – ARA Road 18
OMM – Advanced Riding Academy from Wednesday July 15 to Sunday July 19
The third class of OMM – ARA in 2004 are just around the corner: a good opportunity to refresh the riding skills and system before the start of the new season. With Theory sessions and Observed Rides we will cover the full Roadcraft system in the demanding roads of the Central and Northern Aegean area.
For OMM – ARA 18 we have a good line up of competent trainers who will be at disposal of the groups. We plan to have a maximum of eight riders in each group to allow plenty of time for observation and discussion.
Jon Taylor (Master Instructor) was born in 1951 in the UK where he lives with his family. Jon has been involved with motorcycle training since 1978, and has served with the UK Police for thirty years. (Twenty three of these being on Traffic Patrol). Holder of the Police Class 1 certificate for both bikes and cars Jon has also raced for a number of years and in doing so won two championships and in the process set a new 600 production race record.
Paolo Volpara was born in Italy in 1946 and he lives in Turkey. Passionate riders for 40 years with club racing experience on circuit and off-road, Paolo is among the founders of OMM Group with a keen interest in motorcycling riding techniques, long distance riding and touring. He is the author of the OMM - ARA Theory Course and over the years in Turkey he conducted a large number of training sessions.
The OMM – ARA workshops will open at 09:00 of Thursday (July 15) at the Pınarbaşı Yarış Pisti Track in İzmir
The First Section: OMM – ARA Kontrol (DVR – ADAC) – Thursday, July 15
This is a new addition to the OMM ARA Courses. All participants to ARA – ROAD, will have to take a one day closed circuit training. This section of the course is open for up to 30 riders and the training will be conducted by certified DVR – ADAC Trainers. Only successful candidates will be accepted to OMM – ARA ROAD.
The circuit offer all the facilities need for a safe training in Low Speed maneuvers, Braking and Steering. You can bring your snacks for lunch. We plan to close this session at 18:00.
The Second Section: OMM – ARA Road (Roadcraft) – Friday, July 16
The session will start with a presentation of the Roadcraft System directed by J. Taylor.
Again a change; Unlike before, where we only had a couple of hours available for the theory, from this course onward, the Theory Session will cover the whole day.
Participants to the workshops have to be there with bikes in order and full gear: the presentation is also open, free of charge, to riders and co-pilots not taking part in the workshops .
Saturday, July 17 08:00
Two Groups will take the roads around Izmir. The first day will cover about 250 km of riding.
The day is expected to finish no later than 18.00.
The groups are expected for de-briefing at 18:30.
